How does this piece of evidence show the chosen IB Learner Profile Characteristic?
This piece of evidence shows the IB Learner Profile Characteristic Reflective because for my Individual Oral I had to consider my own ideas and experiences in order to analyze the chosen texts. Additionally, I had to reflect on what the authors were trying to communicate through their linguistic choices. This piece of evidence not only made me reflect while I was working on it but after. It made me think about my life and the several ways I could improve it to keep growing personally.

Which challenges did I face when developing this particular evidence?

Throughout the process of developing this project I encountered some challenges. At first it was difficult to reflect on the meaning of the authorial choices. Moreover, I struggled organizing my arguments to create a coherent Individual Oral. However, despite the challenges, I was able to apply everything learned in class as well as my own experiences, ideas and reflective skills to analyze the texts in relation to the global issue of how our perception of success defines our personality and actions.

What did I learn about myself while completing this evidence?

After completing this evidence I had time to reflect about the project and myself. During this process I learned that I am very reflective person who always tries to find a deeper meaning in every situation. I realized that this is one of the reasons for which I really enjoy literature, since it allows me to use my ideas in order to understand someone else's.

How does this piece of evidence show the chosen IB Learner Profile Characteristic?
This piece of evidence shows the IB Learner Profile Characteristic of risk takers because the Higher Level Essay represented a challenge for me considering that I usually struggle when it comes to expressing my thoughts and ideas. Even though it was very hard at times, I was able to face challenges and change. I was forced to leave my comfort zone to exploit my skills.
Which feelings or memories do I remember while thinking about the evidence?
I remember that at times I felt frustrated and nervous because I had no ideas as to how to start my essay. However, as I mentioned before, this evidence represented a risk for me; therefore, I also felt very excited during the process. In a way, I experiences freedom when using new words to express my ideas and leaving my comfort zone.
How can this particular evidence help me in the future?
This particular evidence will help me in the future because it was the first step towards taking risks. Additionally, I was able to discover new skills and abilities related to writing such as flexibility, observation and critical thinking. These discoveries will definitely help me in future projects and activities to come up with a better result.
How does this piece of evidence show the IB learner profile characteristic?
This evidence shows the IB learner profile characteristic of open-minded because I had to leave my own ideas aside in order to understand Whitman's. Additionally, I was able to evaluate Whitman's poetry from different points of view, and I willingly learned from the experience.

Which feelings or memories do I remember while thinking about the evidence?
I remember that by applying the IB learner profile characteristic of open-minded I allowed myself to experience several emotions such as joy, nostalgia and in a way I also felt hopeful. I believe that in the poem named Continuities Whitman has a way of presenting life as a never ending cycle in which nothing is ever really lost. This idea made me think about life from a different and even more beautiful perspective.
What did I learn about myself while completing this evidence?
Throughout the entire process I learned that I am an open-minded person who is willing to learn and grow from other's ideas. Moreover, I discovered that I am passionate about writing and that I truly enjoy poetry. This type of projects have guided me into deciding the academic path I will take in future years.
